The Pixie Chicks Cover

It’s true - they’ve arrived!  The first installment of the Hobbitville saga is now available at www.Quakeme.com.

From the ‘back cover’:

For a quartet of girlfriends known as the Pixie Chicks, life takes on a delicious new flavor when their normal Friday night walkabout through the Hobbitville gardens reveals secrets and adventures previously unimagined. Who knew the statues were portals to similar, magical gardens around the world? Or that only a select few can travel by statue and fewer still can arrive at their desired point? These four will reach for the stars despite the risks of the unknown to embrace an adventure suitable only for the boldest of teens.

Boo Blossoms

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Once more just Boo and Brody, Boo reveled at the extra room in the bed, but only until two more greys arrived.  Their daddy had to travel over Easter so greyhounds Ransom and Ozzie stayed with us.  At a mere 61 pounds, Boo was the smallest of this pack, but she didn’t let that stop her.

With the lessons she learned from fostering Valentine, she maintained her rightful place as the young, albeit effective, ruler in this house.  She and Ransom relegated the boys to the floor and happily took over the sofas (and the bed).  Of course, having been here before, in Ransom’s mind Boo was the newbie, but it didn’t take long to realize there were plenty of treats, toys, and affection to keep everyone content.

The four dogs had a ‘greyt’ time running, romping and talking through the fences to the neighboring dogs.  Of course it must be said that Boo did carry the ever-popular buffalo toy to a secret place where only she could enjoy it.

And since Ransom and Ozzie brought their own bed – which Brody immediately claimed as his own – they’re always welcome back.

Latest Arrival

This pup’s a stitch!

The new foster arrived last night.  She doesn’t answer to much of anything other than ‘New Dog’, so we’re trying to convince her her name is Valentine.  She doesn’t seem to recognize or care much about her racing name.

She JUST turned two so she’s very much a puppy.  She mouths everything, so we keep alternatives like rope toys and nylabones handy.  And while she is cat-safe, she thinks the cats are fun to chase.  She’s also a counter cruiser: she doesn’t jump completely onto the counters, but she does get her front paws and nose up there, snuffling along and checking everything out.

Valentine is intent on learning all there is to know about a house.  When she got too quiet, we searched for her finding no dog, only the cats pondering a bedroom door.  Taking the not-so-subtle hint, we glanced in to find a relieved Valentine snuffling around the door, trying to get out.  When the door opened, she happily bolted out and down the hall after the cats.

Probably not the thanks the cats were looking for.

New Anthology

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

‘Heat of the Moment’, a brand new anthology now available from Echelon Press, is a charitable effort of publisher, editors, artist and twenty-one authors.  All proceeds and royalties will be donated to benefit the survivors of the 2007 San Diego fires.

I’m thrilled to participate in such a great effort.  My contribution to the anthology, “From the Ashes” features Jaden Michaels and her friend Cleveland as they unravel a mystery locked in the turmoil of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

This story was dedicated to all firefighters: past, present, and future and the valiant spirit that pushes them into danger for the sake of the rest of us.

My closest personal brush with fire came during a wintry New Year’s Eve party when I was a kid in Lincoln, NE.  My parents were hosting the annual event, the Cornhuskers bowl game was on TV and our chimney caught fire sometime during the first half.

The crew who responded did an excellent job of assessing, evacuating, and saving the majority of our roof.  I’ll never forget them for their kindness and courage.

I encourage readers of all genres to pick up this book for yourself, for a friend.  The amazing stories are offered from a broad spectrum of talented writers ranging from well known bestsellers to a fresh-voiced teenage prodigy.

Besides you’ll be supporting the best cause ever in this holiday season:  goodwill toward your neighbor.

Happy holidays!

Amazon Shorts

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

I love this program! What a great way to preview authors, or enjoy your current favorite writers working inside, or outside, their usual genres. For me, this is a fun way to stay connected with readers between full-length releases. Writing the shorts keeps me sane when it feels like I’ll

never get through the current work in progress.

New Amazon Short: A Lethal Silence

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

Hello again!

It’s a pleasure to announce the latest 2096 adventure, A Lethal Silence.

This story fits in between Justice Incarnate and Invasion of Justice, and features Nathan Burkhardt, brother of one of the lead characters of Invasion.

I wrote it to get to know Nathan better and had a blast tossing him into some unpredictable situations that challenged his telekinetic and telepathic skills.
