Which, when you think about it, is another piece of fabulous world building for paranormal romance authors like me, as well as fabulous library building for those who read paranormal romance novels or any other genre.
World building for paranormal romance novels can feel tricky when we’re in the writing process. The legends, the magics, the making and breaking of rules, the strengths and weaknesses, it goes on and on… But as I hit the ‘promotion trail’ with Tracking Shadows I realize I’ve done some serious world building beyond the novel.
As I strive to reach readers, I’ve built a support network of fellow authors and entrepreneurs to help me get there.
More than once I’ve mentioned my fantastic web team, my talented cover artist, and my ever-so-awesome family. But I’ve expanded my world building for paranormal romance novel promotion (isn’t that a mouthful) to include contacts within social media and sites that help authors and readers connect. Sites like the Paranormal Romance Guild and the 99 cent network, to name just two.
Getting out there, building my network in the marketing world has led to events like the guest post at ParaYourNormal today. And the awesome Blog Tour de Troops going on over Memorial Day weekend. (May 27 -30). And the guaranteed-to-rock Tracking Shadows blog tour organized by The Bookish Snob Promotions that kicks off on June 10th at Coffee Table Reviews. Not to mention support in several online forums.
I’ve met gracious, helpful people who’ve shown me how to reach the next level in this ever-changing publishing landscape with world building, cross promotion, and more. I was raised to believe that if you help others reach their goals, you also help yourself.
This new world building for paranormal romance novel promotion has sure proven that adage correct.
