The November challenges were:
Topics: 1) Read two books written by the same writer under different names (Ex. Sherrilyn Kenyon/Kinley MacGregor; Amanda Quick/Jayne Ann Krentz/Jayne Castle; JR Ward/Jessica Bird, etc) 2) Read a book published in the 90′s (1990-1999)
THEMES: 3) Read a Serial Romance a.k.a. Category Romance (ex. Harlequin, Silhouette, Mills & Boon, Candlelight,). 4) Read a Western Romance – Helloooo Cowboy! ; )
or RANDOM: 5) Read a romance where the heroine or hero is a widow/widower or prince/princess. 6) Read a time travel romance, or a book that has an element of time as part of its title (midnight, noon, evening etc).
I opted for challenge #1 – and enjoyed two great books by one of my favorite authors: Nora Roberts. First I read the contemporary romance, A Perfect Hope. Third in the Inn Boonsboro series was a delightful wrap on another romantic trilogy. Ryder is the strong silent type, but when he talks people listen. It was great watching him grow into the perfect man for Hope (a female lead I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know).
This book has one of the best marriage proposals I’ve ever read and the ghost story line was handled with care and compassion in a unique way that brought me to tears.
Naturally, Interlude in Death, by J.D. Robb (Nora’s other pen name) was quite different. This was a shorter story starring Eve and Roarke at one of his off-planet resorts, but it wasn’t short on any of the details that make Nora’s books (by any name) so enjoyable. I love watching the way Eve and Roarke interact – how well they know each other. Eve’s determination and character come shining through and the book offered an exciting (if brief) adventure.
