“Be awesome! Be a book nut!” — Dr. Seuss
Dr. Seuss is one of my favorite authors. Not just because I have such happy memories of the silly rhymes and whimsical illustrations that made reading a fun adventure, but also for the lasting messages about life, goals, and the value of being yourself.
Sharing Dr. Seuss as a mom brought me full circle, reliving happy memories and building new memories with my kids. I can’t tell you how many times I read (and listened to my kids read) Green Eggs and Ham, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, and all the rest.
(Except maybe the Sleep Book… no surprise there)
During this season of graduations, a popular gift is a copy of Seuss’s Oh, The Places You’ll Go!
In just a few days, my “baby” will be one of those graduates and there will be a copy of this book among the cards and well wishes. If there’s one enduring truth in my life (aside from my need to write every day) it’s that I believe books make wonderful, thoughtful and thoughprovoking gifts.
There’s a good reason this book tops the charts regularly. If you haven’t read it, pick up the kindle edition at the very least – right now! It’s a personal vote of confidence everybody needs as they perch on the edge of an accomplishment, and look forward to their next step in life.
Whatever that step is!
This book fits every grand achievment from graduating Kindergarten all the way through to high school and college commencement. And beyond!
In fact, the personal copy I keep near my desk was a gift to me when I reached an important milestone in one of my business endeavors before I succumbed to the author gig.
This book is the perfect reminder that we are all full of potential — unique wonderful potential — and we are all capable of fulfilling our dreams!
