It’s November and many writers are diving into NaNoWriMo, myself included. While I strive to maintain high productivity every day, there is a special energy about November and being accountable to writers from all over the world.
“The true alchemists do not change lead into gold; they change the world into words.” -William H. Gass
Writers might be frequently misunderstood, but each of us have something so special to offer the world. Words last. Words invoke feeling and can incite action. Words can wound and heal and illuminate. How we share our words can nudge readers to think beyond previous boundaries on all kinds of topics.
As writers we can entertain, educate, and inspire. And as writers, we must do our best to get those thoughts, ideas, viewpoints, and experiences out of our head and hearts and onto the page where we can make a difference.
Contrary to the old school-yard rhyme, words can and do have an impact – good and bad. As you write your perspective and outlook on what you see in the world can open the eyes and minds and hearts of others. Keep that truth close as you invest your heart and energy into your writing time this week.
