Question: What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?
Answer: Hmm… While I often look at my life and think it’s pretty average and routine, there have been some rather, shall we say, exciting highlights.
There was the time I took a billy goat to friend’s new place as a housewarming gift. (They’d just bought a five acre property and a friend and I thought it would be the perfect little helper.) The poor little guy didn’t like stop signs, so to save our ears from all the bleating, I ran most of the four way stops on those (thankfully deserted) rural roads.
Most people would probably consider it a far more daring adventure to learn I crewed for a 28ft. E-scow sail team. We had all kinds of fun working on that boat and competing in various races and regattas, but one of my fondest memories is the weekend we ran the Mug Race (an annual race on the St. John’s River from Palatka to Jacksonville, Florida). It was an incredible experience despite getting lost, a lack of sleep, and a downpour that washed the sunscreen into our skipper’s eyes so he couldn’t see for several minutes.
Of course being an Army wife and raising two amazing, intelligent, creative, and ambitious kids has made for several hair-raising moments through the years.
Live the adventure!
