Ask Regan January 2020

Question: What is your least favorite word – and why?

Answer: This question positively cracks me up. Like most authors, vocabulary is both a point of interest and/or research and a point of pride to me. And I try to grow my vocabulary as well as my storytelling chops with each and every book.

In the rough draft I don’t worry about spelling so much. If I’m concerned, I make a note and keep moving forward with the story. But in the revision phase, I get stuck on two words every stinkin’ time:

Unmistakable and Acquaintance

I always spell unmistakable incorrectly (unmistakeable). And yes, I have noticed the irony in my inability to spell that particular word correctly while writing. (Thank goodness for spell check and line editors). As for acquaintance – my fingers are forever leaving out the ‘c’ between the ‘a’ and the ‘q’. LOL

If you were expecting a philosophical answer, that’s fair, but today doesn’t seem to be that day.

Live the adventure!
