Question: What was your favorite sport, Regan?
Answer: As a kid I ran track and loved it. I tried lots of events from shot put to hurdles, but eventually I settled down and specialized in long distance racewalking. (Yeah, that weird all hips, loose knees speedy gait you occasionally see at the Olympics).
I was a natural at racewalking and I enjoyed it immensely. One of the best parts of track for me was how an individual effort contributed to the team success. I had plenty of support, not only from my coaches, but from my teammates too.
Traveling to track meets was loads of fun. One summer we even took a bus from Nebraska to California for nationals and got to test out the Olympic Village housing before the games began in Los Angeles that summer.
I really enjoy watching all kinds of sports and I’m feeling the drought with no active sports right now. I was raised in football country and that’s a biggie in our house. My favorite sport to watch is tennis (I often adjust my writing schedule based on the majors each year) with ice hockey (my husband’s youth sport) as a close second.
I’d love to hear what sports you enjoy, personally or as a spectator.
Live the adventure!
