A few weeks ago author Cindy Gerard shared a post at the Riding With the Top Down blog about Laura Kahn’s Love Between the Covers documentary film project. Here’s a bit of background from the project’s home page on Kickstarter:
Love Between the Covers, a feature-length documentary film, will upend expectations and delight its viewers as it takes them into the remarkable worldwide community of women who create, consume, and love romance novels. The film will be broadcast around the world, seen at film festivals, and used in community settings and classrooms for years to come.
Love Between the Covers will be a fun film – but it’s born out of my serious interest in the unique, intensely passionate, vast, and technologically cutting edge romance community that’s been built online, and in person, literally around the globe. The film will give viewers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the most profitable segment of the publishing industry, and it will explore the enduring, archetypal stories of courtship and love that make these books so powerful. Above all, it will be an exciting cinematic ride with some extraordinary women the audience will enjoy meeting.
I was intrigued by the project as well as the Kickstarter fundraising method and I made a donation. So I was particularly thrilled to hear they met their first goal! And with that goal met, Laura sent out this update and request:

I am touched, heartened, and excited by all of the support you’ve collectively given this project! And I feel like an elephant has just gotten off my shoulders. These campaigns are stress-inducing.
As most of you know, when I launched this Kickstarter campaign, I set the goal of $50,000 because, with Kickstarter’s all or nothing policy, I just didn’t have the guts to ask for more. As you all know from this project’s Kickstarter home page and updates, I actually need $200,000 to complete the film, get it out into the world, and keepPopularRomanceProject.org alive and growing as we’re working on the film (thereby growing the community around the project and keeping the conversation we’ve started going). I’ll also use some of that money to help plan the Popular Romance Project symposium and library program.
It would be great to end this campaign with a burst of energy! We have a small but precious window of opportunity in the next four days to get this project as close as possible to what I really need: full funding!
So PLEASE continue helping us get the word out in the next four days!
