Nothing But Fun! +Giveaway

This weekend is nothing but fun at the IQA World Cup VII in Myrtle Beach, SC! Brooms up!

We’re watching our daughter’s college Quidditch team – the RIT Dark Marks – take on the world – or at least their slice of it in pool play today. There’s a concert this afternoon and even a Kidditch pitch where the competitors are sharing their love for this odd sport with the future generation.

I had such a tremendously good time last year, watching the games and watching all of the people who come dressed up as various characters. There was one person wandering about with a Dumbledore cut out and a crew dressed as Durmstrang students were fabulous!

It’s amazing to see how this entire sport and supporting community has sprouted up in real life just from the imaginings of J.K. Rowling! Whether you’re a Potter fan or not, this is an action-packed event and a complete geek fest – a powerfully fun combination.

Tomorrow is bracket play for a shot at the championship. Last year Texas won and this year… we’ll just have to wait and see!  I’ll update the team’s progress in the comments below.

      Thanks! They did a great job. Won 5 games, but lost in the round of 32. So much excitement and we all had fun cheering and taking in all of the action. 🙂

    I used to be a big Harry Potter fan but its been awhile since I’ve read the books. The beach is nice but I need something to do too. maybe a mix of relaxing and adventure is perfect
