August! And a big hooray for a new month of romance reading challenges from Nat of ReadingRomances.com! In my opinion there’s no better way to spend an afternoon in the dog days of summer than with a good book. A hammock, a bit of shade, an island breeze, and a tall glass of lemonade would make it perfect, but this summer, I’ll just pretend while I relax in my porch swing.
So here are the August challenges:
TOPICS:
1) Read a book that has been made into a movie.
2) Read a book with an older Hero or heroine (AT LEAST mid-to-late thirties).
THEMES:
3) Read a novel that is classified as “chick-lit” or a light, humorous book about a young single, working woman in an urban setting.
4) Read a book that has a character that is involved in any type of arts (music, dance, literature, etc).
SPECIAL EVENTS:
5) Read a book that features a “friendship” as its main storyline.
I just love these challenges! And this particular collection brings to mind all kinds of books I’ve already read. So, taking a look at my to-be-read stack I think I’ll go with The Gray Wolf Throne by Cinda Williams Chima. It’s the third installment of an epic (and fabulous) fantasy series, but the friendship theme is intense and complex.
And I know it’s a faux pas, but I went to see the movie, The Help, before reading the book and I’ve just never gotten to that part of my to-be-read list, so that’s also on my list this month!
I hope you’ll join the fun and let me know what you’re reading this month!
Live the adventure!
