3 Things I Loved About Writing Braving the Heat

Writing is always an adventure and one big perk of author life is sharing some of the best moments about Braving the Heat!

ONE: This is one of those stories that only came about because a character from an earlier book refused to be quiet.

Readers get their first glimpse of Stephen Galway in Safe in His Sight, my debut novel for Harlequin Romantic Suspense. In that story, he was a supporting character, the heartbroken older brother.

As a reader, I always love to see those characters who make an impact in one book get their own happily ever after. It was somewhat of a relief to me when Stephen (finally) started nudging me to find his perfect heroine.

TWO: His heroine is one tough firefighter! Once Kenzie started circling in my imagination, it was on! The challenges were big for Stephen. He’s a loner since suffering a horrible loss and she’s used to rushing into danger to save others. Now that she’s sidelined due to circumstances outside her control, Stephen steps up to protect her.

THREE: Cars and sundresses! Yes, that’s right. Both Stephen and Kenzie know their way around cars and I loved that their immediate connection stems from a mutual love and appreciation of cars and engines.

Then, there’s that moment…the first time he sees her in a dress and can’t ignore all those pesky feelings any longer. It’s a scene that made me swoony and I always hope readers feel the same way.

They were such an intriguing couple I hope you’ll check out their whole story today!

From the back cover: One man wants her dead, another will do anything to protect her.

Firefighter Kenzie Hughes never thought saving lives would make her a target. When someone rigs her car and sexy Stephen Galway offers to be her bodyguard, the flames of danger burn red-hot.

Stephen lost his fiancée to violence years ago, but he can’t resist Kenzie. Can he keep Kenzie safe and out of his arms when they’re forced to confront what they fear most?

Escape Club Heroes: Off-duty justice, full-time love…

Live the adventure,
