The Matchmaker’s Mark is a book that’s dear to my heart, if only because it was exactly the lighthearted type of story that kept me writing during a stressful time. Way back when were adjusting to my husband’s first deployment to Iraq, I struggled to write and a good friend suggested writing something ‘light and fluffy’.
It worked! An exercise in perseverance turned into a wonderful and affirming experience. I had a blast weaving a tale that incorporated several of my favorite things: greyhounds, floral shops, the Angel Oak, and many more details of historic Charleston, South Carolina.
The greyhound in this story, Guinness, is named for a greyhound we met through our local rescue group and his behaviors are based on Brody, one of the many greyhounds who’ve blessed our family.
