Ray Bradbury was one of the most prolific authors and, in my opinion, one of the wisest and most pragmatic as well.
When Bradbury said, “We are an impossibility in an impossible universe.” he was probably referring to the miracle of humanity in general, but I like to think he meant writers specifically. 😉
Despite the plethora of messages and advice out there, it isn’t exactly common practice to create entire worlds and new people from the mere spark of imagination. It isn’t easy to relate wild ideas or necessary information in a way that impacts readers and inspires them to take action or a diversionary escape.
Writers see the world through a different lens – and more importantly, we reflect our view and fresh perspective back out to that world in beautiful, unique ways like a beam of light transformed through a prism into a rainbow.
The world needs us to keep up that pattern. To observe and reflect and share what is on our hearts. Readers need the escape we can offer as well as the challenge of seeing something (even something familiar) through a fresh viewpoint.
You’re a writer. Don’t be afraid to enjoy and embrace all you have to offer your readers.
